Bird Watching in the UAE

While most people believe that there are no birds in the desert, the city of Dubai, UAE says otherwise. Bird watching is a relaxing and curious experience that many people would love to explore. You can watch the Middle Eastern birds in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi for vagrant birds. People who like to watch birds can visit these places:

Al Ras Al Khor Wildlife Reserve

The wildlife sanctuary in Dubai is home to many migrant birds for a year long. However, the calm and relaxing wetland has three attractive reserves. One of which is the flamingo’s reserve. There are around 500 estimated flamingos in the reserve. You can also keep an eye open for the Greater Spotted Eagle during April. There are various other birds that you can watch including the Grey Plover, Yellow-billed Stork, and Eurasian Marsh Harrier.

Mangrove National Park

The Mangrove National Park is home to many birds in Abu Dhabi, you can mainly spot the flamingos in the park and watch out for some other birds.

Al Wathba Wetland Reserve

You can observe more than 250 species in the Al Wathba Wetland Reserve in Abu Dhabi, including the Little Green Bee Eaters and the Black-Winged Stilt.

Bird watching in Sharjah

Sharjah is one of the main bird watching areas in the UAE. Even though the Emirate city is considered the third largest in the UAE, not many tourists choose to visit it while touring Dubai or Abu Dhabi. But there are few places where you can spot some of the beautiful birds in the Sharjah parks and reserves.

Khor Kalba Reserve

One of UAE’s oldest Reserves where you can watch exciting birds in the area. The Kingfisher Lodge is located in the reserve with luxury tents that are suitable for bird watching in Khor Kalba. You can find the Woodland Kingfisher and the Egret two endangered species in the Khor Kalba Reserve.

Wasit Wetland Center

The Wasit Wetland Center is recognized to be Sharjah’s best bird-watching area. The landscape is perfect for both temporary and permanent birds to live. It is a diverse area with saltwater lagoons, and large dunes provided by the sea. The Wasit Wetland Center is home to 350 different species, including the Purple Swamphen, Northern Bald Ibis, and Greater Flamingo. You can spot many Asian and African birds that travel across the world and take shelter in the Wasit Wetland Center. A center is a great place for birds with food and good conditions. Some migrant birds also stay longer in the area.

Bird Watching in Fujairah

Kalba Corniche Park

If you want to watch the seagulls and pipers, then Kalba Corniche Park is the best location to spot them. Surrounded by the beach you can relax and watch some birds. You can spot 100 different species in the area.
